My Game Development Journey

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my game development journey with you.

It all started when I decided to teach myself Python for about 8-9 months, mainly to enhance my knowledge for university. But then I found myself wanting to apply those skills in a practical way. That’s when I thought, "Why not try making a game?" I had no experience in game development, but I decided to give it a shot, mostly as a fun challenge.

At first, my attempts were frustrating. My game didn't work despite all the effort I put in, and I felt pretty discouraged. But after taking a break, I came back more determined. With persistence and learning through trial and error, I managed to bring my game to life! The sense of accomplishment was incredible.

As a complete beginner, the road hasn’t been easy. Creativity has been one of my biggest challenges—I'm still figuring out what kind of games people really enjoy playing. For example, as you all know I made a 2D space shooter(Infinity Guardian), but it’s tough trying to gauge whether it’s something people will love. On top of that, marketing has been a real struggle. I’m not sure how to effectively promote my game and get it in front of the right audience.

Despite these challenges, seeing those first downloads was a huge moment for me, and I’m still learning and evolving. I wanted to share this journey with all of you, hoping that we can learn from each other. I’d love to hear tips on effective marketing strategies for indie games, as well as any advice on how to boost creativity and design engaging gameplay. Also, if you’re interested, feel free to try out my first game on Itch.io—though I’m still working on refining it, feedback would be amazing!

Whether you’re a developer or a gamer, I’d love to hear your experiences. What challenges have you faced? How do you push through those tough moments? Let’s chat and grow together
